The next national No Kings day is Saturday, October 17, and this time the theme is Vote Early. Mail ballots go out October 5, so many of us will have ours in hand by then.

Voting early means your voice is locked in and safe, days before anyone else can decide what happens next, and it gives you room to fix anything that goes wrong.
Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin has published a short piece, “Our Strategic Logic For the Next No Kings”, explaining the thinking behind the next national day of action on October 17. It is a quick read with a two-minute audio version if you’d rather listen.
His argument, in brief: the earlier No Kings days showed the movement’s scale, and the next phase should turn that energy toward protecting the election itself. Two goals stand out: driving early voting so the results are clear and hard to dispute, and building the local, nonviolent capacity to respond calmly if the process is disrupted. He suggests each local event should fit its state’s voting calendar, leaning into get-out-the-vote where early voting is already underway.
Indivisible National held its General Election Kickoff Call on September 2. The recording runs about 50 minutes and covers what is at stake in the midterms, the plan for flipping the House and Senate, and the most effective ways to help this fall.

Action Items
These are the action items Indivisible shared on the call.
1. Sign up for at least three phone banks. Calling voters in the districts that decide Congress works from anywhere, including your kitchen table here in Ojai. Sign up for a shift.
2. Sign up for Neighbor2Neighbor canvassing if it is available in your state. You get a short list of ten households near you, a script, and best practices, and Indivisible’s research says talking to your own neighbors is twice as effective as traditional canvassing. 3. Triple your impact by recruiting three friends (or more) to take action with you.

As Ezra Levin reminds us, No Kings is not just something we HAVE to do but something we GET to do. That we get to be a part of history by sending a very public message to our country, and the world, that we are mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore. But this time, it’s not enough to just go, we need to be bringing people with us. This administration is an existential threat to America and the world. No Kings is a day of community, that doesn’t just protest our bad president but brings together good people. Authoritarians want us to feel hopeless, like they are inevitable, but days like No Kings and the actions we take with our people afterward, is the antidote. We come in peace. But we come in numbers.
We’ve been watching our government slide towards fascism for the last year. It’s been consistently concerning, but also not quite concerning enough. It’s registered for many people on the level of “I should keep an eye on that” but below “I should put aside other priorities and focus on this”.
