Rally for “Families Belong Together” – Ventura Demands Justice!

Families Belong Together

Keep up the pressure and continue to demand an end to this cruel policy!

Saturday Jul 28 6-8 PM

Ventura County Government Center

800 S. Victoria Ave.

“As the Trump Administration drags its heels on reuniting thousands of separated children with their parents, it’s time we once again take action and demand a solution to this crisis and dignity for all immigrants. On July 28, we’re stepping up to say Families Belong Together: We Demand Justice!

Bring your amazing signs! Bring great chants to teach us! Bring your American flags: because Americans love kids and families and protecting them from harm is a quintessential American value, because America was built by immigrants and continues to depend on immigrants and because fighting injustice is the most patriotic thing we can do.

There may be counter-protesters at our event. If they do show up, please just ignore them. Like small children, they hate being ignored. We advise people to stay clear of the curbs with both their body and signage to avoid close contact with moving vehicles.

By choosing to attend this event, you are committing to participate nonviolently and in accordance with the law, to work to de-escalate confrontations with others, and to obey the orders of authorized event marshals and of law enforcement. You also acknowledge that you are solely responsible for any injury or damage to your person or property resulting from or occurring during this event and that you release all event sponsors and organizers (and their officers, directors, employees, and agents) from any liability for that injury or damage.”

Hi everybody!

Saturday is coming up fast!

We look forward to seeing you at 2:00 pm at the Corner of Victoria and Telephone, in front of the Ventura County Government Center.

We are thrilled to be a part of a huge day of protests that is uniting Ventura County residents! PLEASE COME TO AS MANY RALLIES AS YOU CAN as we hold hands across city borders to support our immigrant neighbors as well as those whose pilgrimage for asylum ended in cages. (Updated schedule links below). We show people, with our presence, our signs, and our American flags, how important this moral issue is. Please wear WHITE if you can. However, don’t stress if your closet is currently white-clothing-free. Your presence is more important than clothing.

People are wondering if the “Families Belong Together” issue is as strong as before, due to Trump’s Executive Order to halt the mess he started. The answer is “YES“, “YES“ and more “YES”.

  • +2000 children are still “missing”.
  • When the 20-day limit imposed by the Flores agreement comes into play, kids will be taken away again or end up indefinitely detained. In the phrase “Families Belong Together”, the corollary “and not in cages” can be assumed. However, feel free to add that to your signage.
  • Everyday, ICE takes peaceful, tax-paying parents away from their kids here in America. You’ve been seeing the articles and videos on the heartbreaking separations for a long time. We can never allow ourselves to let that become “business-as-usual.”
  • The kids who had to make to our border for safety by themselves are still being locked up, unable to join with family anywhere.
At a meeting last night, a lot of ideas for signage were brought up and we’ve listed some below. Feel free to use or modify if they appeal. Remember, much of your audience will be in slow-moving cars. Big graphics, big lettering (3″ tall is great), not too long.

  • “Free Immigrant Families”
  • “Where are the children?!?”
  • “No human is illegal”
  • “Stop traumatizing kids”
  • “Remember the 2000!”
  • “Where are the children?!?”
  • “Stop traumatizing kids”
  • “Reunite families now.”
  • “Kids aren’t pawns.”
  • “Families belong together.”
  • “End family detention.”
  • “There is no humane way to detain families.”
  • “Human cages and internment camps are illegal”
  • “Zero Tolerance has Zero Heart”
  • “This is a moral choice, not a political one”

Here are some great sign graphics to use if you’d like.
